Located directly in the middle of the 11-story hotel is a full height atrium which was capped by a skylight of unusual design and proportion. The height of the structure and required location of the structural steel elements necessary to support this feature necessitated that one entire wing of the building "tower" not be constructed until the skylight sub frame had been installed. Subsequent to the placement of the skylight frame, an entire wing of the hotel had to be constructed vertically eleven stories and be "caught up" to the progress of the balance of the construction.
While this activity was in full swing, the electrical, mechanical and plumbing designs were still in the process of completion, which required excellent coordination between Killian Construction, it?s subcontractors, and the Design Team.
