Safety is No. 1

PARTNERING FOR A SAFE
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Safety is the most important part of what we do. From our management team and supervisors to our employees, we believe creating a safe workplace is a team effort.

Our goal is to create a risk-free environment for our employees. We believe that risks can be reduced when everyone works toward the shared goal of safety. Killian provides education and training to keep safety top-of-mind and ensure the implementation of safe practices.

Key elements of our safety
program

PROVIDES LEADERSHIP

Everyone is involved in our safety program—from leadership to employees. Plus, we provide the education and information needed for employees to be leaders in their roles.

ELIMINATES INJURY & DAMAGE

Construction work comes with physical risk. We believe that a shared education and understanding helps reduce accidents and injuries at job sites.

ENSURES SAFE & HEALTHFUL WORK PRACTICES

We discuss safety protocols and workplace risks to ensure our team has the knowledge and tools to follow safe work practices. When employees are able to identify and prevent risks, they keep themselves and everyone else on the site safe.

CONDUCTS WEEKLY TOOLBOX talks

Toolbox Talks supplement OSHA safety training. Our teams meet weekly to discuss construction safety hazards and review proper procedures.

ASSURES OSHA 30 TRAINING

Our employees complete the OSHA Outreach Training Program in construction standards and workplace safety. All Killian employees who are supervising work have an OSHA 30 and any other employees on site have an OSHA 10.

COMPLIES WITH STATE AND FEDERAL REQUIREMENTS

Our safety program helps everyone on the team understand and follow state and federal regulations, including OSHA 29 CFR 1926 for construction.

Diamond Level Safety Status

World-Class Safety Training

Killian received Diamond level status for the 2021 Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP) through Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC).

STEP is a safety management system that improves safety performance and helps reduce job site incidents. Participating companies measure their safety processes using 25 key components and submit incident rate (TRIR) documentation. Based on this information, companies receive Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum or Diamond recognition. Diamond is the highest level of recognition.
